Work underway to revitalize former manufacturing facility in Huntington

The revitalization of an abandoned manufacturing facility is underway in Huntington.

A groundbreaking ceremony Friday at the Black Diamond site in Westmoreland, according to a social media post from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.

The brownfield site will be transformed into a center for renewable energy, manufacturing and recycling by the Coalfield Development Corporation.

The project started in 2019 after Coalfield acquired the vacant property and began environmental cleanup efforts on site through water and soil sampling.

Additional updates will be posted to Coalfield’s webpage.
